Disability Initiatives support on average a hundred physically disabled adults each week. We offer a range of activities and programmes and opportunities to enable people to achieve their goals and have new experiences, and maintain a level of independence and experience life. We have put out an appeal for some equipment and some funding for Disability Initiative, and Andrew Reynolds saw the appeal in the newspaper and contacted DI and within twenty four hours had come into the Resource Centre to meet me and clients, staff and volunteers to discuss what we do, how we do it and what we need in order to take things through.
Andrew Reynolds genuinely wanted to support with that, but a sustainable support. Not something that’s just a quick fix. Something that really was going to benefit in the long term, and that’s very unusual to find somebody that displays that. Andrew not only funded the equipment that we were after, but also has pledged his support for the next two years to enable us to provide a huge range of activities that will really impact on people’s lives, change their lives and enable them to do things that otherwise wouldn’t have been possible. It’s an incredible, generous gesture and all of us here are absolutely overwhelmed and delighted by it. It’s fantastic.
